Some may call my methods for picking out running shoes “unscientific”, “lacking any valid basis”, or “lame”. But when I found out that “ASICS” stands for “anima sana in corpore sano” (a healthy spirit in a healthy body)… I knew that these were the shoes for me.

Yesterday was the San Francisco Marathon, and my first time running more than 20 miles. It was quite an experience!
According to the marathon website, San Francisco was rated as the number one running city in America. And I believe it.
It was a beautiful course, a fun run, and an unforgettable experience. The last 6 miles were mentally draining, but still a joy. My official time was under 5 hours, which was better than the 6-hour time I expected. Most importantly, I ran the course to the finish and had a great time doing it.
Who knows, I might even think about running another one some day…

This is an excellent book that combines tips for the physical, mental,
and emotional aspects of running a marathon, making a marathon accessible and
enjoyable for the non-runner. This book really is a pleasure to read, and
I highly recommend it.
The book has three authors, each of whom makes a unique contribution to the
book. Each chapter is broken up into three sections: one for the physical
side of the week’s training; one for the psychological aspect; and one for
presenting stories of first-time marathoners who have used this course.
